Moments | Memories...

Hubby and I finally took a vacation together after nearly 4 years. It was nice. We drove out to Colorado for a few days to see my family and I'm hoping for time in the near future to sort through the pictures from our visit so I can share the awesomeness.

Today, what I want to share is something from our visit that really makes me smile (and get a wee bit choked up).

Grandpa Alisa Marie Christmas 1977

This is from Christmas 1977. That's my Grandpa on the left, my cousin Marie on the right, and I'm in the middle hugging my sweet cousin. We were about a year and a half old and Grandpa was much younger than he is now. You see, our visit was already planned and. in the weeks leading up to our trip, Grandpa was admitted to a nursing facility and the tone of our visit changed dramatically.

After our LONG drive to Colorado, we were exhausted and my heart was homesick for the mountains as we made our way into the city at sunset. When we FINALLY arrived at my cousin's home, I saw this on her fridge and my eyes welled up. Seeing this little blast from the past made me happy and remember a time when everyone was a bit younger. Today, I wanted to share this happy photo with you and I hope it makes you smile, too.

And... how about those pants I'm wearing? Jealous, aren't you?

Cheers!

Moments | Another Year...

As you probably know, I quite adore my husband. Mike is a pretty incredible guy and I'm a very lucky lady. Today is our 8 year wedding anniversary and I'm smiling from ear to ear thinking of our life together thus far.

Wedding

We celebrated our anniversary this last weekend with dinners and some quality time together - including a nice ride out in his "new" 1969 Dodge Charger.IMG_20140713_123214

Sunday was a beautiful day for a drive in a beautiful classic car with the windows down.

My hubby is my biggest fan and encourager of making things happen that I might have only dreamed or had a momentary thought of - including Firefly Fibers. My life is full and happy because of him.

This last year has brought a lot of joy, and a lot of heartbreak, for both of us. Together, we take it one day at a time and I couldn't imagine a better partner and best friend to spend my time and my life with. I am, very much, a VERY lucky lady.

Cheers and here's to many more!

In the Kitchen | Veggies & Cold Brew

One of my favorite times of the year is here...

CSA season!!! Our local CSA is Good Earth Farm and they are wonderful! We get a small share since it's just the two of us, and it's usually more than enough (and then some). Our first delivery looks great and I really can't wait to gobble this up!

Did you notice the jar of dark deliciouness back behind the veggies? Yeah, I love coffee and with the warm weather... it's cold brew season!

I recently ordered some cold brew CoffeeSock filters to add to the already amazing Cuppow products we stock at Firefly Fibers and this week I finally tried one out...

In summary... The CoffeeSock is fabulous - the clean up is so easy - and the cold brew is delicious! All you need is a 64oz (half gallon) canning jar, 6 oz of ground coffee, filtered water, and 12-14 hours of patience to wait for it to be ready. Sadly, staring at it doesn't make it brew any faster.

It's well worth the wait and I'm sure to be full caffeinated the entire summer!

I'm off to get some packing done. We're getting ready to take a vacation next week - yes, you read correctly... a vacation. My dear cousin is kind enough to let Mr. Logan stay in her home, so he needed to get cleaned up. This last week we headed off to the doggie salon...

Cheers!
